Smart glass can be turned off or on for privacy. What makes it work is a 0.4mm film. The film is called PDLC which means Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal.
Smart glass is ideal for privacy, security, partitioning, energy saving and UV protection. Best of all, it can be applied on your existing glass. However, we can also install it with new glass. Plus, it works with many home automation systems. Additionally, it works with motion sensors, dimmers, wall switches and smart phones.
How It Works:
When it has electricity applied, liquid crystals inside of the switchable glass technology align and allows light to pass through. When electricity is cut off from the PDLC film, liquid crystals are positioned randomly and block out light.

Smart Glass Windows
Smart glass windows were invented in 2014 by scientists at Nanyang Technological University. At first it was expensive. Consequently, it was only used by businesses not homeowners. However, now we are installing them in some of the finest South Florida homes.
They are sometimes called electrochromic windows. These windows or wall panels go from crystal clear to dark when exposed to electrical currents. Plus, some of these smart windows will change their color on their own. For instance, when the sun gets brighter the windows can dim. As a result, your furniture won’t fade and you’ll save on electrical costs.
